Without a doubt the most ambitious project I've been involved with so far - the 'Turning Tide' dogfight used almost all the VFX tricks in the book. For close up shots of the hero planes, miniatures were constructed and filmed practically, before being composited into shots with computer generated background planes.  Where possible, practical solutions were used to create the effects.  Key shots of the planes were filmed outdoors against the real sky, and the final water splash effect was created using ordinary table salt and a catapult!
