It's taken us on quite a journey, our homemade short film 'Turning Tide'.. Everything from having the entire first shoot ruined by the weather, emptying our overdrafts and doubting if we'd ever finish the damn thing, to the high of hearing the soundtrack of the film get performed by a live orchestra at a concert hall in Rome, and now this! Back on the big screen as part of the new 'Meta Quest' advert.

They say one of the best ways to learn is to copy the masters, so I thought I'd try and reproduce this iconic painting by one of my favourite artists, Ralph McQuarrie. Here's the result!

On 'The Monuments Men' (2014) I assisted Leigh Took’s experienced team of model makers with the building of miniature bombed out buildings. My main task was carving and painting a variety of buildings from insulation foam. On the shoot, these were arranged to resemble a city after a blitz and filmed for use in digital matte paintings.

Never thought I'd see my name on the same credit roll as John Williams but that's what happened this year! We're practically close friends and collaborators? Feel very lucky to have been able to work on a much loved franchise as Indiana Jones, thanks again to @vfxbymidas

This year has been a tough one for the industry but hopefully 2024 will see a return to normal and the beginning of better times. All the best for the year ahead!

This time ten years ago (🤯) @robinwhenary shoots our 'barrel earth' elements for Jamie Stone's 'Orbit Ever After'.

A freezing cold December and January meant a bit of a race to get the plaster layer of the barrel to dry in time! Luckily it did, and we were able to pay tribute to this retro visual effects technique in the film.

As far as I'm aware, the technique was last used in 'Goldeneye' (1995), and can be seen in films such as 'Superman' (1978) and (I think) the original version of 'Star Wars' (1977).
